Duke-NUS offers financial aid to all our students, regardless of nationality. On average, 70% of our students receive some form of financial assistance. There is no service commitment (bond) attached to the award of scholarships or bursaries. Candidates who have been interviewed will be invited to apply for financial aid.
Duke-NUS has various forms of financial assistance available to our students:

1. Bursaries (needs-based scholarships)

Needs-based scholarships (bursaries) are generally awarded based on financial need. Applicants who need financial assistance may submit a financial aid application after they have been interviewed for admission at Duke-NUS. Only completed applications with the full set of required supporting documents will be processed. The bursary amount is dependent on the student’s financial situation. Bursaries are awarded on a yearly basis and students will need to re-apply for them annually.

2. Merit Scholarships

Merit scholarships are generally awarded based on academic achievement. Criteria such as involvement in co-curricular activities and community service are also considered in the award of some scholarships. Applicants who wish to be considered for a merit scholarship should also submit a financial aid application after they have been interviewed for admission at Duke-NUS. Only completed applications with the full set of required supporting documents will be processed.
Several of the scholarships are valid for 4 years and may be used for tuition, living expenses or other fees associated with attending Duke-NUS.

Prospective students in need of financial assistance are advised to apply for financial aid only when they have been invited for an admissions interview. Students will be given a link to the online financial aid form. In subsequent years, students need to re-submit the financial aid application on an annual basis. Financial Aid will send an email notification to senior students in November/December when the financial aid application is open for the following academic year.

External Financial Aid

Duke-NUS considers financial aid received by students from external sources in making financial aid awards. It is the responsibility of financial aid recipients to keep Duke-NUS Financial Aid informed of any external financial aid that they receive or of changes in their financial circumstances. The School reserves the right to reconsider its offer of financial assistance in the event of an external award to a recipient.
